Visual Radio Assist runs in two places: the Cloud, where you plan and control your broadcast, and the studio apps on your studio machine, which drive the switcher, cameras and graphics. An engineer sets up the studio once. A producer then plans the programs and graphics for every show. New to VRA? Read What is Visual Radio Assist first.

Set up a Visual Radio Assist studio

An engineer sets up a Visual Radio Assist studio once, in five steps. Check the Machine Specs and Network Connectivity before you start.
1

Create the studio

The Cloud opens the studio setup wizard on your first login: name the studio, download the software, connect the Core with a Connect Code and confirm the installation. See Set up a new Core App.
2

Connect the video switcher

Add your ATEM, vMix or OBS in Settings → Studio → Switchers. See Video Switcher Configuration.
3

Link the radio automation

Connect your radio automation in Settings → Studio → Automations, so VRA knows what is playing. See Link Radio Automation.
4

Connect audio and cameras

Make your mic inputs available to the Audio Manager and add your PTZ cameras in Settings → Studio → Cameras. See Connect PTZ cameras.
5

Map the Output Players

Map each Output Player to an NDI or SDI output in Settings → Outputs → Players. See Map Output Player Devices.
The studio is ready when Studio → Overview shows the switcher, the active mics, the now playing data and the Output Players. See Studio Overview.

Run your first show with Visual Radio Assist

A producer runs a show in Visual Radio Assist once the studio is set up: plan the program, set up the triggers and graphics, then put the studio on air.
1

Create a program

Add the show in Scheduling → Calendar → New program, and its hosts in Scheduling → Presenters. See Create a new program and Presenters.
2

Set up audio triggers

Give each mic an audio trigger in Audio Manager → Triggers, so the right camera goes to program when someone talks. See Audio Manager.
3

Design a Visual

Build a graphic from layers in Outputs → Designer. See Design your first Visual.
4

Create an Output

Choose what each Output Player shows, and when, in Outputs → Editor. See Create your first Output.
5

Put the studio on air

In Studio → Overview, select Off air and confirm to switch the studio on air. The Core must show ACTIVE to process triggers.
