When designing visuals, there are times when you need to use the same graphic elements across multiple visuals. Previously, this meant duplicating visuals manually, which could become repetitive and time-consuming. With Visual Templates, you can create and save reusable graphics, making it easier to maintain consistency across different programs.

How to Create a Visual Template

  1. Design a Visual – Create a new visual in the Visual Designer as usual, or create a template in the template tab.
  2. Save as Template – Instead of saving it as a regular visual, choose the Save as Template option.
  3. Name the Template – Assign a clear name to make it easy to find later.
  4. Access Your Templates – All saved templates will be available in the Templates Overview for future use.

Standard templates

VRA comes with ready-made templates, so you can put a graphic on air without designing one first. Go to Visuals, select Add new and then From template. The standard templates are at the top of the page:
  • Tickers: a bottom bar with the track or programme on air, a scrolling message and the time.
  • Title screens: full screen cards for the programme on air and for the track on air.
  • Station logo: your logo in the top right corner.
  • Lower thirds: the presenter, the programme on air, the track on air, and a guest in the studio.
Click a template, give the visual a name and select Create. The Visual Designer opens on your new visual. Every standard template comes ready to use:
  • Your branding. Colours, fonts and logo come from your station branding. Without branding, the template uses its own colours and your station name instead of a logo.
  • Live data. Text is linked to what is on air, like the programme, its presenter and the current track.
  • Animations. Each template animates in and out.
  • Visual variables. Text you type per broadcast, like the ticker message or a guest’s role, is a visual variable on the new visual. Set it in the rundown.
The new visual is your own copy. Changing it does not change the template.
