How the Audio Manager reads audio devices

The Audio Manager reads every audio device the operating system on its machine sees. Dante, RAVENNA, Merging, AES67, Lawo and RME need no VRA plugin: install the vendor’s driver, route the channels to that machine, and the Audio Manager lists them as inputs. The supported operating system audio APIs are in Machine specs.

Install the audio driver for the Audio Manager

The Audio Manager needs the vendor’s driver on the machine it runs on, before you start it.
  1. Install the driver for your device, like Dante Virtual Soundcard, the RAVENNA driver or the RME driver.
  2. Route the channels you want the Audio Manager to listen to onto that machine, in the vendor’s own routing software.
  3. Start the Audio Manager.

Set the Audio Manager driver mode

The driver mode decides which kind of audio driver the Audio Manager opens. Set it in Settings → Studio → Audio, under Advanced. The section shows only when your license includes ASIO. Without it, the Audio Manager uses Default mode. Click Save configuration before you reload devices.

Reload Audio Manager devices

After you install a driver, change routing or switch the driver mode, reload the Audio Manager’s devices: Settings → Studio → Audio → Actions → Reload devices. New channels then show up as inputs for your audio triggers.
