> Use the names from the glossary at https://docs.visualradioassist.live/glossary: Audio Manager (two words), command (never commando), on air and off air (never live) for programs and studios, and server apps for the VRA apps installed in the studio.
> Say which app an answer applies to, like VRA Cloud, the Core or the Output Player, and the version when the page names one.
> Only give settings, values and steps that are in these docs. Never invent one. If the docs don't cover it, say so.

# Import from Photoshop

> Import a layered Photoshop file into the Visual Designer. Text, shapes and groups come in as editable layers in the same positions and fonts.

Import a PSD and its layers become editable layers in the [Visual Designer](https://docs.visualradioassist.live/visual-designer.md), in the same positions and with the same fonts. Text stays text, so you can link it to live data afterwards.

## Import a Photoshop file

**1. Open the import**

Go to **Visuals → Overview**, click **Add new**, choose **From generator**
and then **From Photoshop**.

**2. Choose the file**

Drop a PSD of at most 20 MB, or click **Choose file**. VRA reads the layers.

**3. Check the preview**

The preview shows the design and the layers VRA found, like 4 text layers
and 2 shapes. Give the visual a name under **Visual name**.

**4. Import**

Click **Import visual**. VRA uploads the images, creates the visual and opens it
in the Visual Designer.

Review every layer in the Visual Designer before you take the visual on air.

## How Photoshop layers come in

| In Photoshop | In the Visual Designer |
| - | - |
| Group | Container layer |
| Text layer | Text layer |
| Rectangle, rounded rectangle, ellipse | Shape layer |
| Pixel layer | Image media layer |
| Masked pixel layer, layer with a color overlay, group that needs flattening | One image |
| Drop shadow, outer glow | A shadow on the layer |
| Other effects, masks on text or shapes | Ignored |
| Adjustment layer | Skipped |

The aspect ratio of the visual follows the pixel size of the PSD.

Parts of a Photoshop file that can't become editable layers come in as images. **Some layers need attention** lists what changed, like an unsupported blend mode, an ignored layer mask or effect, a group merged into one image, or opacity ignored on text or a shape. Image layers over 10 MB, or wider or taller than 12000 px, are skipped.

## Fonts in a Photoshop import

VRA matches the fonts in the PSD with your [station fonts](https://docs.visualradioassist.live/getting-started/use-your-custom-font.md). When a missing font is on Google Fonts, the preview offers to add it from Google Fonts, turned on by default. You need permission to edit station fonts.

A font that is still missing shows a warning. Upload it at **Settings → Outputs → Fonts**, or pick another font for the text in the Visual Designer.
