> ## Agent Instructions
> Use the names from the glossary at https://docs.visualradioassist.live/glossary: Audio Manager (two words), command (never commando), on air and off air (never live) for programs and studios, and server apps for the VRA apps installed in the studio.
> Say which app an answer applies to, like VRA Cloud, the Core or the Output Player, and the version when the page names one.
> Only give settings, values and steps that are in these docs. Never invent one. If the docs don't cover it, say so.
> When the docs don't answer the question, send the user to Visual Radio Assist support at https://cloud.visualradioassist.live/support.

# Troubleshoot the Output Player

> Fix an Output that doesn't play, a frozen screen, and rundown items that don't come back or keep looping.

## Output Player Mapping is not valid for this enabled Output

An Output shows "Output Player Mapping is not valid for this enabled Output" when it is enabled but no Output Player plays it yet. Map the Output to a player.

1. Go to **Settings → Outputs → Players** and open the Output Player.
2. In **Matrix**, tick the NDI, SDI or **Cloud Live** column for the Output.

To test an Output without a screen, tick **Cloud Live** only. Cloud Live alone is a valid mapping. See [Map Output Player Devices](/set-up/map-output-player-devices) for NDI and SDI.

## Player inactive. Make sure your Output Player is running and you added content

The Output setup shows "Player inactive. Make sure your Output Player is running and you added content" when the Output Player has not been active yet, or the Output has not loaded.

1. Check that the Output Player runs on the studio machine. On **Settings → Studio → Overview**, use **Launch** when it shows as inactive.
2. Check that the Output has content in its rundown.

## Output Player inactive. Contact support

Only Visual Radio Assist support can solve "Output Player inactive. Contact support". Contact support and include the station and the Output.

## The screen of an Output is frozen

The Output Player has recovery actions for a frozen screen, so you don't have to go to the studio machine. Go to **Settings → Outputs → Players**, open the Output Player and use the ⋯ menu on the Output.

| Action | What it does |
| - | - |
| **Refresh Visuals** | Reloads the visuals of this Output. Try this first. |
| **Restart Cloud Live** | Restarts the Cloud Live preview of this Output. |
| **Restart Controller** | Restarts the control of this Output. |
| **Reboot Player** | Restarts the player of this Output. |

**Player-wide Actions** at the bottom of the page affect every Output on that Output Player: **Reload Media Link**, **Restart all Players** and **Reboot Application**.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Every action except **Refresh Visuals** and **Restart Cloud Live** interrupts the graphics and videos that are playing.

The preview windows on the studio machine itself are for checking, not for long-running use on air.

## A rundown item doesn't come back after a restart

A rundown item with a condition only plays when its condition fires again. An overlay that starts on a track start, for example, comes back at the next track start, not straight after the Output Player restarts. See [Output Rundowns](/output-editor/output-rundowns).

## An item keeps looping and the Output doesn't move on

An Output in Manual mode plays an item for its duration and then loops it, until someone moves the Output to another item in playout. Live Items are off in Manual mode.

To let the Output continue by itself, open the Output in the Output Editor and set **Mode** to **Automatic**. New Outputs start in Automatic.

## A now-playing item doesn't show

Items that start on now-playing data only show what your radio automation sends. Music played outside the radio automation, from another player, is not seen by VRA, so those items don't start. See [Radio Automation Data](/radio-automation-data).

## What to send support

When you report a problem with an Output, include:

* the time the problem happened, as exact as you can
* the Output and the Output Player
* any error message word for word, and a photo or screenshot of the screen
